Mike's Minis
I'm not one of those guys who wasted a lot of time painting his minis in intricate detail as even the best paint job couldn't ward a gauss round to the noggin. As you can see, my color scheme was basically "Smurf Blue" with simple gray highlighting of the weapons systems. More importantly, I often took saw and drill to the standard minis in order to jazz them up a bit. Here are my variations:
Orion orion
This was my first custom job, designed not only to add a little movement to the static Orion pose but to also add a little levity to the game. It was this mech that earned my accumulated collection the sobriquet of  "The Smurfs".

Incidentally, I used wood putty to fill in the hex bases as I had huge cans of the stuff.

Awesome Awesome
This Awesome also got the subtle 'leg job'. Combined with the swinging arms it has a much more kinetic appearance.

Charger Charger
Was there ever a mini that needed more esthetic re-engineering than the Charger? It was supposed to be a fast mech but its stock pose said "Rooted in place". In addition to the leg repositioning it also received a slight twist to the waist. Much better, yes?

BTW, the slight green tinge to the exposed areas of these minis is the accumulated result of many fingers moving them around. This is the sort of grime the Antique Roadshow loves.

Jaegermech Staggermech
The basic idea was to make the mech sort of squatting down with both arms sticking straight forward as though laying down a withering hail of AC rounds. But the pose required the cutting and epoxying of six joints and, well, it didn't quite work out. So I renamed this my "Staggermech".

wolfhound battletech wolfhound
It seems almost everyone has, by now, made a Wolfhound mini. It was an enticing design back in 1988 so I made my own, just in case. I probably used it once as can be seen by the lack of grime. A production version was eventually released but I like mine better.

katana katana
Believe it or not, this is a Katana, with a bit of battle-damage extant. I built this one, and the whole group of 2750 mechs, long before the mini's were available.

Battletech Exterminator
As I mentioned above, I developed a whole set of the 2750 mini's but, unfortunately, I sold most of them on eBay years ago and can't find the pictures I took of them. The Katana and this Exterminator are the only two which remain.

And why is this one painted silver? Because the 2750 book specifically said they used that color to aid in their stealth capacity. Besides, it looked wicked cool.
